Building on decades of experience in academic medicine and psycho-oncology, EVOLVE Mental Health & Wellness was founded in 2022 by clinical psychologist Dr. Amy Lowery Allison as a place for people to receive top-quality therapy and support services from the comfort of home. Because you spend enough time going to appointments, juggling multiple responsibilities, and your time is precious.
Dr. Amy Lowery Allison
Dr. Amy Lowery Allison is a licensed clinical health psychologist who specializes in all things cancer and all things sleep related. She completed her residency at Rutgers University and fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where she was chief research fellow. She was an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, where she developed and directed UPMC Cancer Center’s first sleep clinic. She was an associate professor of psychiatry at Augusta University, where she was recruited to develop and direct the Georgia Cancer Center’s first psycho-social oncology program. She held associate professor positions at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell Medical School.
She pioneered psycho-oncology services for patients and families at MSK’s regional locations. She spearheaded telehealth counseling prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing individuals to receive counseling services in a safe and protected way despite being unable to leave their home. She also volunteered as a first responder during the pandemic providing crisis counseling to healthcare workers in New York City.
Dr. Allison has numerous publications and awards for her work on distress screening, sleep, and symptom management in cancer settings. She has presented her work at many national and international conferences. She is the founder and director of EVOLVE Mental Health & Wellness, and is passionate about increasing the reach of high-quality, ethical supportive services to all communities. She lives with her husband and three little boys, who have taught her to appreciate slimy bugs and mud puddles.
